I'm Porter Mason, and I make Roonie the Rabbit. It's a comic about an oblivious bunny, a sad squirrel, an anxious skink, a competitive fox, and some ants.
The comics will give you a smile, but are also designed to get you and your child talking about some difficult emotions.
Sadness, frustration, jealousy, anxiety... your kids feel these things too. But they need help putting words to what they're feeling. I made these comics to open up a dialog with my own kids about their feelings. And in 2021, I started sharing them with friends and family, and now... with you!
My wife, Kim, is a certified Child Life Specialist and helps me focus on what emotions kids have particular trouble with at different stages of growth.
The comics will help with your child's emotional vocabulary, spark discussions, and offer you entry points to discuss particularly difficult emotional states. It's worked for me and my daughters, and I want it to help you too.
