Welcome to my channel! My name is Karl Clews and I'm a bassist, producer and songwriter based in Galway in the west of Ireland. On this channel, I present primarily solo electric bass arrangements of popular chart hits, movie themes and jazz and fusion classics. I use a variety of techniques on the electric bass, from chordal and arpeggiated play to slap and two-handed tapping to perform these arrangements which incorporate rhythm, harmony and melody of the selected song into a single performance. I have arranged and performed songs by Maroon 5, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, George Ezra, James Bay, Emili Sande, as well as my own renditions of tracks by bass legends such as Stanley Clarke and Mark King of Level 42. I aim to upload a new solo bass arrangement every week or two.
The channel also includes videos by some of the group projects I'm involved in, including the jazz-funk-fusion band Earthship, alt-pop act Vivienne Monday and the rock 'n' soul band, Superfreaks.
