Magistrate Court is the place where most criminal cases begin. The magistrates hear cases and decide if there was enough evidence to move the case forward to district court (sometimes called "District Court" or "Courthouse"). Some of the cases brought to magistrate court involve small amounts of money, or even property damage, but sometimes they involve much more serious crimes like theft and violent crimes.
