Greetings my brothers and sisters! I have been cultivating oyster mushrooms for sale at the local restaurants, groceries, and farmers markets since 2008. Can anyone start a mushroom business? Most people can make a grow space in their home for a small scale /part-time business where you may only sell to one market or a couple of restaurants every week or two. A full time business does require proper growing environments indoors (like a proper basement). I don't recommend outdoor setups as they are much more prone to bugs/weather issues and really need gothic greenhouses to maintain proper conditions.
