OpenUI5 supports your development with a client-side HTML5 rendering library, including a rich set of controls, and supports data binding to different models (JSON, XML, OData). OpenUI5 is open source (under Apache 2.0 license) and free to use.
OpenUI5 is used as SAPUI5 in common SAP products. SAPUI5 provides additional libraries relevant to the SAP ecosystem and controls like charts, and enable the use of 'smart controls', that are automatically configured by OData annotations from the back end. SAPUI5 is not a separate product and thus, has no independent license, but its productive usage is linked to the license of SAP products containing SAPUI5.
