Why film-making if you spent 6 years becoming an engineer?
South Africa needs more engineers, but South Africa (and I would argue the world!) needs more film-makers who are willing to work really, really hard to master their craft (engineering cum laude level hard), crossing cultural boundaries in search of unique, unifying stories, and insist on making films that are not only financially viable but meaningful. Meaningful in the truest sense of the word: It takes an honest look at suffering, acknowledging the despair, and takes a deeper look to portray the hope and the beauty to be found amidst the chaos. (Film-makers who are master artists and master technicians.) I'm also passionate about helping people achieve their full potential, which is why I make YouTube videos about healthy habits, building character, and becoming a Renaissance person. After all, I am an engineer — I like to optimize things.
