Pasha Haj Driss Riffi Temsamani was a Statesman a Diplomat and a General of The Rif Army under Khalifa Muley Mehdi and Muley Hassan. He was named Pacha of Asila in 1922 when he took the mission to remove Ahmed ben Mohammed El Raisuli Raisuni by the orders of the Sultan Muley Hafid of Morocco. After He was named Governor of the Rif State in 1923 by Sultan Yusef ben Hassan. He was named Pacha of Tetouan in 1931. He died (RA) in Tangiers, Morocco in 1966 after he spent the rest of his life helping the Moroccan resistance gain independence from France and Spain.
He is known in history books by Dris Er-Rifi, Driss Riffi Temsamani, Dris Ben Abdeslam Riffi, Dris Er Riffi, Dris Ben Abd-Es-Selam El Tensamani Er-Riffi.
His life story and work has been published in many book including his rivalry with El Raisuni in the book The sultan of the mountains by Rosita Forbes.
