Born in Cuba, FIDEL MORALES is considered one of the most notable and versatile drummers of his generation. He is also percussionist, composer and author with wide international recognition. For more than 10 years, Fidel held the position of percussionist in the Panama Symphony Orchestra. He is also founder of the non-profit organization Espacio de las Artes, dedicated to transforming community environments by promoting the rhythms of the Afro-Caribbean tradition. Today, he devoted his career to education, as director of the Department of Jazz and Caribbean Music of the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, and to perform as drummer and bandleader of his project Afrocubano. In 2012, Morales published the groundbreaking book “Afro-Cuban Techniques for Drum Set & Percussion” and, in 2016, released the volume 2. As a drummer, he has played with leading jazz musicians such as Giovanni Hidalgo, Eddie Gómez, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Danilo Pérez, John Faddis, and Alex Acuña, among many others.
