My name is Basant (basantrath.com), from Pipli, Puri. My Bou used to call me Basua. In my village in coastal Odisha, Bou means Mother and Basua means a venerated ox.
I studied sociology in JNU, New Delhi. I happened to get into the IPS in 2000. Not my fault. I'm here to make videos for our young girls and boys preparing for the UPSC civil services examination. For free. No hidden agenda. When I was young, ambitious and deprived of resources, some rank strangers helped me palm off an under 70 rank without any kind of coaching. My way of thanking people like Ashraf Chacha, Anil Das Choudhury and Prof. Rabindra Kumar Mohanty for their kindness.
As a student, my ideal has always been Ekalavya. Let a Dronacharya chop off all my fingers.
