DCC++ is a complete open-source system (both hardware and software) for the advanced control of DCC model railroads. DCC++ includes two components: (1) a base station that provides power to the tracks and produces the actual DCC signals; and (2) an interface that provides users with full control over a DCC model railroad, including custom throttles, intuitive cab function buttons, turnout and layout control, routes, train detection, and full decoder programming.
The base station is comprised of an Arduino Uno (or Arduino Mega) and an Arduino Motor Shield. With the exception of a DC power pack, absolutely no other hardware is needed. All code for the Arduino is written in C++ (hence the pun-based name of the system: DCC++).
The interface is written in Java using the Processing IDE and its core graphical library components.
