May Nasr is a musician whose popular performances honor the folk traditions of her homeland Lebanon. Influenced by Lebanese icons such as Fairouz, Zaki Nassif, Salwa Katreeb, and musicians of their caliber, Nasr was mentored by renowned ‘Father of Sound Engineering’ Mr. Fareed Abul Kheir and his very close friend and iconic musician, Mr. Zaki Nassif, in addition to Fairouz’s vocal teacher, Mrs. Badia Sabra Haddad. Both, as a musician and founding director of PartnersLebanon, Nasr is dedicated towards infusing arts programming with conflict mediation tools to bridge cultural divides, reinject the historical memory of heritage, and cultivate a sense of unity and belonging in Lebanese communities.
By using arts as a tool for grassroots conflict management, PartnersLebanon promotes sustainable peace, with youth and children as direct targets especially among underprivileged conflicting communities, so they can advance their learned skills and sense of cohesion to future generations.
